Easton appoints urology specialist

Specialty pharmaceutical company Easton Pharmaceuticals has selected Dr Jack Barkin as its new Senior Vice-President and Chief Medical Officer.

Dr Barkin has previously worked as Chief Urologist and Chief of Staff at a university-affiliated Toronto hospital, and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto.

His other roles include Director of the Society of Urologic Surgeons of Ontario, Vice-President of The Canadian Society for the Study of the Aging Male and Executive Deputy Editor of the Canadian Journal of Urology.

“We are especially pleased to have such an accomplished professional as Dr Barkin on board to help with our clinical plans for our products, beginning with our lead product Viorra,” said John Easton, Easton Pharmaceuticals’ CEO & Chairman of the Board.

“Dr Barkin’s vast experience in the sexual dysfunction market will help us navigate the sometimes uncertain waters of the market, and will help us focus on the design and execution of key clinical trials that will enrich our pending commercialisation efforts.”

The new Senior VP and CMO is also a member of the boards of various pharma companies, including Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Bayer, Merck, Abbott, Jansen-Ortho, Allergan, Ferring, Paladin, GSK, Sanofi, and AstraZeneca.
