Siemens push the boat out in ‘Stroke for Stroke’ campaign

SIEMENS HEALTHCARE has completed a charity ‘Stroke for Stroke’ week in partnership with The Stroke Association. The campaign saw key Siemens personnel completing a sponsored 10km row.

The initiative grew from Siemens’ sponsorship of the British rowing team. It highlighted the benefits of regular exercise and the need for increased availability of MRI treatment, and raised funds for The Stroke Association.

Stroke for Stroke week, launched by Olympic medal-winning rower James Cracknell, gave people the chance to discover the benefits of regular exercise by completing a sponsored 10km row. To encourage participation within the company, the Siemens Healthcare management team led by example with a ‘row off’ of two management teams.

The Government has just announced its 10-year plan to improve stroke care in the NHS. An important factor in this is the availability of MRI or CT scans within 24 hours of patients suffering a suspected stroke.

“Strokes are the UK’s third biggest killer, responsible for tens of thousands of deaths a year,” said Peter Harrison, Director of Imaging & Oncology Systems at Siemens Healthcare. “Immediate access to MRI and CT scans for stroke patients is incredibly important and life-saving. The Stroke for Stroke campaign was a fun and energetic way to help raise valuable funds and support a worthwhile charitable cause.”

It’s really unusual for consultants to stay in the same job for so long, and candidates are constantly surprised (pleasantly I hope!) when they phone up after a number of years and are still able to deal with the same consultant.

“I really enjoy working at Advance, I’m part of a great team which works really well together and we all share the same ethos of wanting to go the extra mile to provide both candidates and clients with the best possible service.”
